Beloved in Christ,
Peace and grace from God the Father be with you all through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am directed by Very Rev. Dr Bonful to forward to you the program for our Daily Prayer Meetings on phone to continue our observance of the 2010 Lenten Season through which we are seeking to grow spiritually.
Our general theme is: "THAT I MAY KNOW HIM AND THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION" (Philippians 3:10), but as is our practice we have topics to be treated each day by one us.
The Rev. Chair directs I convey his appreciation to all who by their participation and broadcasting efforts had made this program a resounding success. He is indeed grateful.
I am to appeal to all Ministers-in-Charge, Caretakers and Society

We also appeal to all our members to continue with the Fasting and prayers and rely on our Lord Who fasted forty days and forty nights to bless in a very special way.

SERVICE….!
INVITATION TO THE FIRST CHOIR CONFERENCE
A gladsome hymn of praise we sing to God for bringing us to another year. We pray that His
providence would be our defense as we continue to render our service to Him.
2. I have instructions from the Choir Council to inform you of its decision to hold the first
Conference of our Association to take stock of our past and to plan/strategize for the future in
serving our God with all diligence.
3. The Conference which is under the theme, “THE CHOIR AND THE MISSION OF GHANA
METHODISM IN NORTH AMERICA” is scheduled as follows:
Host: MT. OLIVET METHODIST CHURCH CHOIR; COLUMBUS, OHIO
Date: MAY 28-30, 2010.
Reporting Time: All Choirs are to report at the venue (to be communicated soon) by 1:00 p.m.
on Friday May 28, 2010 for registration and accreditation.
4. The Choir Council at its January Meeting in Rockville, Maryland appointed a Five Member
Committee to plan for the Conference. We are therefore giving you the assurance that the detailed
program would be forwarded to you as soon as possible.

5. We however wish to give you the following information on hymns, canticles and anthems for
the Choral Night and the Divine Service on Sunday:
a. For the Choral Night on Saturday, we have each and every participating Choir assigned
a hymn and we advice Choir Masters to get in touch with the Music Directors for the hymn
as assigned.
b. Canticle 5 (Tune: ‘BENEDICTUS’ in Methodist Praise page 271) is compulsory for all
participating Choirs.
c. Two optional Anthems-one in the English language and the other in any Ghanaian
language.
d. For the Memorial Service for departed brethren, we need to practice: “In Memoriam”
(Tune and lyrics in Methodist Praise).
e. For Sunday Divine Service, the Introit would be “Service to God”, the Choir Anthem by
E.C. Bilson, Snr.; The Mass Choir shall render “Hallelujah Amen”, in Judas Maccabeaus by
G.F. Handel and then after the Benediction, ‘Hallelujah’ (Chorus) from “Messiah” by G.F.
Handel.
6. Election of Officers/Nominations (Notice):
We announce for the information all Choirs and members that Election of Officers would be held
during the conference by an Electoral College for the following positions:
Chairman
Vice Chairman
Music Director
Deputy Music Director
Secretary
Assistant Secretary
Financial Secretary
Treasurer
ii. Nominations are invited for the above offices from Choirs duly endorsed by the Choir Master
and the Minister-in- Charge/Caretaker.
iii. All Nominees are to fulfill conditions of the Constitution and Standing Orders of The
Methodist Church Ghana. The Nominee shall be a Full Member of a Society of The Methodist
Church Ghana and an active Chorister as in S.O. 291. A Nominee’s personal and social conduct
shall conform to S.O 741 following and where if married shall comply with S.O. 742.
iv. Participating Choirs are to nominate two (2) Choristers to serve on the Electoral College.
v. Nomination forms would be forwarded to all Choirs in due course.
7. We are by this circular inviting all Choristers to continue in prayer for the success of our first
Conference to the glory of God.
